What 90’s Music Taught Me (Part 1)

90’s music is and will always be the Best Music Category of all time (in my opinion). Here is why:

#1. The Spice Girls taught me that “best friends are forever” and that “friendship never ends” in their hit song ‘Wannabe.’ Basically, this song preaches the message ‘hoes before bros’ before it became popular.

From Scary Spice’s rapping to the 5 Spice Girls causing chaos in their music video, it’s not hard to see how the Wannabe video has amassed over 86 million views.

#2.The British King of Pop, Robbie Williams, taught me that you can write a successful song about, well, nothing at all. Williams admitted that this party song has “inane lyrics that mean nothing.”

Me with the floor show
Kickin’ with your torso
Boys getting high
And the girls even more so
Wave your hands if your not with the man
Can I kick it?

This catchy song would make any non-dancer want to move their body with its infectious beat and strange lyrics.

#3. Lastly, we have the song that made middle school children jump up and down at school dances. The Vengaboys taught me that children can be oblivious to this a song’s true meaning. Children like songs based on their musical appeal rather than lyrical meaning.

I was one of those children who did not discover that this song, appropriately titled ‘Boom boom boom boom’ was actually about sex until I was in my late teen’s.

I hope you liked Part 1 of What 90’s Music Taught Me. Keep an eye out for Part 2 which will drop sometime soon.
